Public Outreach

The purpose of the North Florida PBA includes outreach into the community with the intent to educate, bring awareness, and share the benefits of prescribed fire.  It is vital that our communities know that prescribed fire can enhance resources with minimum hazard or harm.  Without the support of the community, use of prescribed fire could be severely restricted.

The NFPBA has provided outreach and participation in the following:

  • Scholarship funding for folks that want to attend burn manager courses

  • Learn and burn public event, previously held at Glen St. Mary

  • Fire festival held at Austin Cary Forest

  • Wildlife Society Workshop

  • Burn manager speaking at University of Florida Forestry classes

  • Prescribed fire counsel participation

  • Fire Chiefs meeting Putnam County

  • St John’s County Master Naturalist

  • Native Plant Society

  • Audubon Society

  • Penny Farms Garden Club

The NFPBA collaborates with state and county agencies and other like-minded organizations to enhance wildlife, improve forest resources prevent wildfire, and protect our natural resources.
